U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, as Russia continues its offensive on Ukrainian territory, including areas near the border with Poland.

During his visit to Ireland, Trump said: “There are plenty of other targets. Don’t hit Russia’s oil,” referring to Kyiv’s attacks on Russian energy facilities.
The U.S. president’s appeal came a week after his envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, visited Kyiv and Moscow. The two officials are pursuing diplomatic efforts to bring the parties closer to a negotiated agreement that would end the war.
Although all sides have described the talks as important, the situation on the ground has not seen any notable easing of tensions.
Russian forces have continued their strikes across Ukraine, targeting civilian, energy and logistics facilities. Meanwhile, Kyiv has increased its use of long-range drones to attack energy and military targets inside Russia.
According to Kyiv’s argument, these operations are intended to restrict Moscow’s revenues from the energy sector and force it to sit down at the negotiating table.
Drone attacks have caused difficulties with fuel supplies in some parts of Russia, also triggering discontent among some Russian citizens. In June, Ukrainian drones also struck the Moscow oil refinery of the prominent Russian company Gazprom Neft.
