Fuel prices returned to the center of his speech during an election rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, where Trump was campaigning for the midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
During the rally, he claimed that the price of oil is lower than it was when his predecessor, Joe Biden, was in office. However, the statement has been deemed inaccurate.
Trump also said that gasoline in the US is expected to cost less than $1.85 per gallon, equivalent to about 3.8 liters, and that this could happen “within a very short period.”
According to the US president, prices could fall before the midterm elections or immediately after they conclude.
In the same speech, Trump also reiterated his administration’s position on Iran, stressing that the United States will not allow Tehran to obtain nuclear weapons.
The president portrayed the highest level of fuel prices as a consequence linked to national and international security, describing this expense as necessary to guarantee it.
Gasoline prices have become a sensitive issue for the US administration, especially ahead of the midterm elections to be held in November.
