“We will never forget. That is precisely why we fight today. We have no other choice. Only victory can come,” Trump said in his speech.
The president described September 11 as “a moment of great and terrible evil,” emphasizing that the attacks represented one of the most serious challenges in the history of the United States.
Trump also recalled American society’s response after the tragedy, highlighting the unity of citizens and the solidarity shown during one of the most difficult periods for the country.
“Time has not diminished the honor of that day when our country confronted true evil,” he declared. According to the president, the September 11 anniversary also brings renewed attention to the way America dealt with the aftermath of the attacks.
Trump said that it was precisely in moments like these that the character of the American nation emerged most clearly.
A special place in the president’s speech was given to honoring the heroes of September 11. He mentioned firefighters, police officers, emergency service workers and ordinary citizens who risked their lives to save people they had never met.
“Our heroes are those who run into buildings and give their lives on a Tuesday morning for strangers they have never met,” Trump said.
The U.S. president contrasted this act of sacrifice with the actions of the terrorists, arguing that citizens’ response after the attacks demonstrated the strength, resilience and unity of American society.
