The incident occurred when police officers attempted to stop former MP Aida Dërguti on suspicion that she had violated traffic rules while crossing the road to join the protest.
The police intervention prompted objections from protesters, and the situation later escalated into clashes between them and Kosovo Police officers.
Kosovo Police spokesperson Baki Kelani confirmed that the traffic officer had been suspended in connection with the incident.
In response to a request for clarification, Kelani said the measure had been taken in accordance with the relevant guidelines and procedures, as the officer had been involved in an incident before the start of today’s protest in the capital.
