Today, the 28th national protest for the removal of the Prime Minister / The diaspora joins the rally: Rama resign

Today at 19:00, the 28th national protest for the removal of Edi Rama from power will be held, while the organizers have called on citizens from across the country, as well as Albanians in the diaspora, to join the rally in Tirana. This Saturday’s gathering is also expected to be joined by many emigrants arriving from different countries.

The gathering will begin in Skanderbeg Square, after which protesters are expected to march toward the Prime Minister’s Office, where they will deliver speeches. The organizers have stated that the protests will continue until this demand is met, calling on citizens to participate in large numbers in what is described as the 28th consecutive protest.

THE PROTESTERS’ DEMANDS:

This nationwide and peaceful protest demands the following:

1. The non-negotiable resignation of the prime minister and the government.

2. The creation of a non-partisan transitional technical government with a 12-month mandate.

3. Constitutional changes under which all Albanian citizens are equal before the law, and their approval through a popular referendum, including among other things: changes to the Electoral Code, changes to the law on the financing of political parties and various organizations, and limiting the office of prime minister to no more than two terms, full or partial, during the entire political life of an individual.

4. At the same time, they demand the repeal of the changes made to the law on protected areas, the repeal of the changes made to the law on cultural heritage, the revocation of the Mountains Package, as well as the repeal of the status and legal framework for strategic investments.

5. A new social contract is being demanded between citizens and the state, which would be drafted after consultation with intellectuals, technical experts, and non-partisan citizens proposed from the protest square.
