Today marks the 40th day of the revolt, young people bring halva to Rama outside the Prime Minister’s Office as a sign of “political death”

The large protest against the government entered its 40th consecutive day today, showing an unusual level of resistance from citizens.

The political atmosphere and anger on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard this Saturday were accompanied by a strong symbolic and ironic act by young protesters.

A group of young people headed to the Prime Minister’s Office building carrying plates filled with halva, which they then left in front of the government headquarters.

In folk tradition, halva is associated with funeral rituals, so this act was used as a message about the “death of fear” and the end of Edi Rama’s cabinet.
