For more than three months, citizens have gathered continuously in Tirana, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and political changes.
The protests have included marches through the capital’s streets, banners and chants against the government.
Last night, the 100th protest was held with citizens gathering in Skanderbeg Square and later in the area in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. The protesters repeated their demand for Rama’s resignation, while chants such as “Rama, resign” and “Your end has come” were heard during the rally.
During last night’s protest, activists and citizens also warned of an escalation of the opposition’s actions and the continuation of protests in the days ahead.
One of the protesters said that the resistance would enter a new phase, while calls were made for even greater participation in future protests.
Today, the 101st protest is expected to continue with the same main demand: the departure of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Organizers and activists have called for mass participation by citizens, while a march through Tirana’s streets is expected to take place after the gathering in the square.
