Police said that a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man suffered neck wounds, while a 36-year-old man was struck in the face.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and transported all three victims to Kings County Hospital. According to authorities, the 23-year-old and the 36-year-old are in stable condition, while the 32-year-old is in critical condition.
The attack occurred several blocks away from the J’Ouvert festival, an event that begins at 6 a.m. and continues until the parade starts at 11 a.m.
Police announced that the parade will end promptly at 5:30 p.m. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish said the decision was made following last year’s incident, when six people were shot during the celebrations.
“Thousands of NYPD officers will be on the parade route and in surrounding areas from Sunday night through Monday. This is one of our department’s largest operational missions at this time of year,” she said.
