They cry for their children,” Sara Mila recounts parents’ requests for employment

Invited to the show “Now with Erla Mëhilli”, Socialist Party MP Sara Mila spoke about Friday meetings with citizens and the “Loyal Presence” initiative. According to her, this platform aims to bring citizens closer to institutions and create more direct communication between them.

Mila dismissed claims that the initiative excludes citizens from the process. She stressed that the goal is to create a transparent mechanism that would free the MP from the role of intermediary, especially in employment-related issues.

The MP said that during contacts with citizens she has also heard stories of parents seeking job opportunities for their children. She said some of them have teared up as they spoke about young people who finished their studies with high grades and want to be employed.

“I have had cases before, not only through Loyal Presence. Men and women come to me for their children, they cry for extraordinary children who have finished their studies with very high grades, they want to become part of the system,” Sara Mila said.

She recalled that in the past she directed citizens to employment offices who were unaware of their existence. According to Mila, the lack of information and communication problems prevent many people from learning about job opportunities and procedures.

“How many cases I have had where I referred people to the employment office who didn’t even know it existed, because this happens. There is a difficulty in coordination, there is a difficulty in communication. Life is not only Tirana, not only urban areas,” the MP said.

According to her, “Loyal Presence” aims for job requests to be registered in an open and verifiable system, avoiding MPs taking CVs and individual interventions.

“This system is made exactly for this, to remove the MP forever from taking this CV under the table. Through this system it is much better to standardize it this way,” Mila declared.

Responding to analyst Mentor Kikia, who had questioned the MP’s role in forwarding CVs, she said that the document can be uploaded to the system without implying favoritism toward the candidate.

“I disagree with Mentor when he says: ‘What business do you have sending the CV there?’ Yes, in this transparent system, in the mirror, so that Erla can see it, and Mentor can see that a citizen came to me and brought me this CV. I send it and forward it there and say: institutions, whoever needs and opens job positions, let them take it and ask this gentleman with this CV,” Sara Mila said.
