Tensions in Parliament interrupt it for the second time, opposition does not allow the People’s Advocate, Peleshi: Mr. Bardhi, don’t raise your voice with me!

This Monday, tensions in Parliament returned and the break minutes did nothing to lower the “blood pressure” among deputies in the hall.

The opposition expressed its determination not to allow the People’s Advocate to report, and then to move on to discussions, declaring that he had been elected illegitimately.

The head of the PD group Gazment Bardhi and secretary Flamur Noka asked Speaker Niko Peleshi to change the agenda and go directly to discussions without hearing Endri Shabani.

“Let’s move to discussions. He was elected illegally, he is illegitimate,” they said.

But Peleshi opposed them:

“We are not here for clashes, we are here to clash ideas, not heads. The discussions are about the report, we cannot discuss in the air. We do not decide who is recognized and who is not; the People’s Advocate was voted in by this Parliament, otherwise we are in violation of the Constitution. We are not here for vigilante justice and to declare who is legitimate and who is not. Let’s hear him first and then debate. There is no chance you will impose the agenda on Parliament, change it by force and shouting, as long as I am here! Sit down.”

But this only increased the debates and accusations, so much so that Bardhi addressed Peleshi about the violation of procedures and not listening to the opposition.

Peleshi reacted by asking the opposition to sit down, while the ongoing tensions led the session to its second interruption in a few minutes.

“Mr. Bardhi, don’t raise your voice with me, please, I am not a teacher. 5 minutes break for calming down and airing out,” said Peleshi, temporarily closing the session.

Tensions in Parliament also arose because of the reporting of the People’s Advocate, Endri Shabani. After Speaker Niko Peleshi introduced the next agenda item on the report of the People’s Advocate’s activity for the year 2025, Gazment Bardhi objected, calling it a provocation against the opposition.
