New Clash in Parliament, Opposition Occupies Podium and Forces Session Suspension

For the second time today, the plenary session was suspended after opposition lawmakers seized the podium, opposing the agenda. They argued that they do not recognize the figure of the People’s Advocate, Endri Shabani, thus preventing the presentation of his report before Parliament.

Session chair Peleshi reacted by saying that it is an institution that the Constitution mandates to report. He urged the opposition not to block the implementation of the fundamental law and to use legal arguments, not force. “Even if you do not recognize him outside this hall, inside you must respect the rules. We are gathered to exchange ideas, not to physically clash, and today’s discussions concern the report — they are not meaningless. You will not be able to impose the agenda as long as I am presiding over this session. I am not a kindergarten teacher,” declared Peleshi, before announcing a 5-minute break.
