Saim Tahiraj has commented on the decision by LDK lawmakers not to participate in the vote on amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers, saying that this stance reflects the views of the party’s membership.

He stressed that, for many families whose relatives were killed for political reasons, the Specialist Chambers in The Hague represent the only hope for justice. Tahiraj called on LDK lawmakers to maintain close relations with the United States and Western European countries, Bota sot reports.
According to Tahiraj, the LDK’s latest stance was fully in line with the will of its membership and represented a return to its true positions.
He described the decision not to participate in the vote on amending the law as the right one, particularly for families awaiting justice for relatives who were killed for political motives.
Tahiraj said that this step corrects the earlier mistake by LDK lawmakers, who had voted for the resolution opposing the decision of the Specialist Chambers, through which the four defendants were convicted.
He called on LDK lawmakers to represent the positions of the party’s membership in every instance, defend the state’s interests, and continue close cooperation with international partners, the United States and Western Europe.
