On Saturday afternoon, Skanderbeg Square in central Tirana became the scene of clashes between protesters and police forces. The two sides are facing off from a distance: the protesters are positioned on the side of the 15-story building, while police officers have taken up positions near the Bank of Albania.
Protesters are throwing stones, hard objects and Molotov cocktails at the police. The officers, positioned defensively, have used tear gas, which has engulfed the square.
