A stolen SUV was found burned inside an old military tunnel in the Cërkovinë area. The incident was discovered on Monday evening, at around 11 p.m., on an unpaved road connecting Cërkovinë with the surrounding villages.

Following the fire alert, firefighting services arrived in the area and intervened to extinguish the flames. Police forces and the investigative team also arrived at the scene.
Checks carried out, including an inspection of the vehicle’s chassis number, showed that it had been reported stolen some time earlier in the village of Panaja.
Sources from the investigative team said police are also investigating whether the vehicle may have been used for various illegal activities before being hidden in the old military tunnel.
The vehicle was inside the tunnel, in an isolated area accessible by an unpaved road, which meant that local residents had not noticed its presence earlier.
Police have begun collecting and reviewing security-camera footage from the area in order to identify the people who left the vehicle in the tunnel and establish its movements.
Investigators are working to determine when the vehicle was brought to the area and for what purpose it may have been used.
Meanwhile, as a result of the vehicle fire, the flames also spread to an area of vegetation near the tunnel, requiring the intervention of firefighting services.
