In the second quarter of 2026, the unemployment rate fell to 11.3%, while the employment rate reached 46.6%, according to the latest data from the State Statistical Office (DZS).

The active population totaled 798,718 people, representing an increase of 0.8% compared with last year. Of these, 708,698 were employed and 90,020 were unemployed. The number of employed people increased by 1%, while the number of unemployed people fell by 1.5% year on year.
In terms of the gender breakdown of the unemployed, men accounted for 63.6% and women for 36.4%. Among those employed, 57.7% were men and 42.3% were women.
Informal employment increased by 7.2% compared with the previous quarter, reaching a total of 101,022 people.
A total of 51,487 people were recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing, accounting for 51% of all informal employment, while construction represented 17.2%. According to the DZS, this composition demonstrates the significant impact of seasonal activities in agriculture and construction on quarterly changes in informal employment.
