Speed checks across the country identify 641 violations within six hours

During a six-hour operation to monitor speeding across the country, 641 violations were identified, the Ministry of Interior announced. The enhanced checks were carried out on 11.10.2026, from 14:00 to 20:00, by the Traffic Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Interior, to sanction drivers traveling above the permitted speed limit.

Of the total number of speeding violations, 327 were recorded in built-up areas, while 314 involved drivers exceeding the permitted limit outside built-up areas.

The checks also uncovered three cases constituting the criminal offense of reckless driving of a motor vehicle, under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.

In addition, 86 other violations were identified. The appropriate measures were taken for each of the violations found, in accordance with legal regulations.

The Ministry of Interior urges all vehicle drivers to comply with speed limits and adjust their driving to road conditions. The ministry warns that exceeding the prescribed speed limit seriously jeopardizes the safety of every traffic participant and announces that enhanced roadside checks will continue in the coming period.
