The Macedonian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that a 29-year-old taxi driver from Skopje was arrested last night, accused of robbing a Chinese national during a journey.

According to the official announcement, the incident occurred on September 8, 2026, around 01:50, in the territory of the Municipality of Aerodrom. The suspect, identified as A.K., had picked up the client J.T. (26) from China with his private taxi vehicle and driven him to the desired address. Afterwards, he demanded a higher amount than the usual transport fare.
When the young Chinese man refused to pay more, A.K. threatened him with a sharp object and took the money by force. The intervening police from the Skopje Police Department quickly intervened and detained the suspect at the scene.
After the completion of investigative procedures, the Aerodrom and Dračevo Police Unit at the Skopje Police Department will file criminal charges against A.K. for the criminal offense of ‘robbery’, based on Article 237 of the Criminal Code.
