The extreme heat wave, which will affect the entire country over the weekend, is rapidly approaching following a period of sunny weather with occasional afternoon instability.

Today was sunny and hot, with light to moderate cloud cover. During the afternoon, local instability is expected across the country, with heavy showers, thunderstorms and strong winds. At the same time, a light to moderate north wind will blow. At 5 p.m., the lowest temperature, 16.6 degrees, was recorded in Popova Shapka, while the highest reached 37.6 degrees in Gevgelija.
In Skopje, too, conditions for atmospheric instability are expected during the afternoon, accompanied by heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Tomorrow is expected to be warm and sunny, with a small to moderate amount of local cloud cover. In mountainous areas, the afternoon will bring increased cloudiness and the possibility of brief showers, as well as isolated thunderstorms. Winds will come from the northwest and will be light to moderate. Sunny and warm weather is expected in Skopje, with a small to moderate amount of cloud cover.
Starting Thursday, a period of mainly stable weather conditions and very high temperatures will begin. Minimum temperatures will range between 12°C and 21°C, while maximum temperatures will range from 33°C to 39°C. There will be light to moderate southeasterly winds.
On Friday, August 21, temperatures will rise further. Minimum temperatures are forecast to range from 13°C to 22°C, while daily maximum temperatures will reach between 34°C and 40°C.
On Saturday, August 22, minimum temperatures will range between 14°C and 23°C, while maximum temperatures will rise to between 35°C and 41°C.
Instead, unstable conditions will develop, with strong winds, heavy showers and storms. Over the weekend, daytime temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees in some parts of the country.
