Commending the progress of Montenegro’s accession negotiations, Sali congratulated the country and reiterated North Macedonia’s support for its ambition to become the next member of the European Union. He said Montenegro’s achievements encourage the region and strengthen the credibility of the EU’s enlargement policy.
The talks also covered increasing exchanges of expertise under the Agreement on Cooperation in the Context of Accession to the European Union, signed in 2012. Areas of interest include coordinating negotiations, aligning legislation with EU law, reforming public administration and managing European funds.
The minister then outlined North Macedonia’s priorities in implementing the Reform Agenda and the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. He highlighted the concrete benefits these initiatives should bring to citizens and businesses.
For Sali, progress toward the shared goal of European Union membership requires regional cooperation and a fair, predictable process in which assessments are based on merit.
