Bekim Sali reaffirms North Macedonia’s commitment to Ukraine and its path to the EU

At the plenary session of the Summit between Ukraine and Southeast Europe, held in honor of Ukrainian Statehood Day, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs, Bekim Sali, participated.

During his address, Sali reiterated North Macedonia’s steadfast stance alongside Ukraine, reaffirming support for the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, in accordance with international law norms.

He underlined that since the start of the Russian attack, Skopje has provided assistance in political, humanitarian, military and technical spheres, and that this commitment will continue in full coordination with the European Union and Euro-Atlantic partners.

Focusing on the significance of this Summit, Sali pointed out that the interaction between Ukraine and the states of the Southeast Europe region is key to consolidating stability in the area, to assisting in Ukraine’s recovery, and to shaping a more stable and united Europe.

Regarding European integration, he stressed that North Macedonia, with its status as a candidate country and long history in the EU negotiation process, is prepared to offer its knowledge, experience and institutional resources to support Ukraine’s ambition for membership in the bloc.

Minister Sali also highlighted that the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the institutions of both countries serves as a solid foundation for expanding the partnership and developing tangible cooperation in the service of Ukraine’s Euro-integration path.

Closing his speech, he once again confirmed that North Macedonia will always be a reliable ally and unwavering supporter of Ukraine in its efforts to achieve peace, security and a European future.
