The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has posted on social media a fragment from the speech of a citizen present at the protest, describing it as an appeal that deserves full attention.
In her message, the protester describes this movement as a meeting point for individuals who transcend party divisions, bringing together people with different backgrounds and viewpoints, but united by a common goal. According to her, this protest embodies a collective reaction for freedom, for a system where merit is recognized, and for a country where citizens can feel respected.

She expressed concern that in the event of failure, the consequences would be devastating for those strata that, with their work and education, constitute the backbone of society. One of the greatest risks she mentioned was the start of a new wave of emigration, pointing to the mass departure of young people and professionals from Albania.
Continuing her full speech, she said that she had initially seen an “ugly comedy” from those pretending to be part of the protest, while the government itself, the target of the opposition, had staged various maneuvers to fragment and destroy this initiative. According to her, the miracle of this protest lay in the unification of Albanians who love their country and who previously may have felt isolated in their efforts.
Describing a hypothetical but painful scenario, she warned that if this protest fades, the consequences will be severe. The stratum of educated and hardworking people, who have chosen to stay and build something in their homeland, would experience deep disappointment and feel even more oppressed. Meanwhile, spaces would continue to be given to those she described as parasites and patronage seekers, who only take without giving anything in return.
The protester raised the concern that this movement could mark the starting point of a new exodus of Albanians, calling it a draining exodus of the country’s brainpower. She recalled that over 400,000 Albanians have left in the last ten years, according to official figures, and posed the question of what would happen if these people, who come with hope to change the country, were to be isolated and feel that their efforts have been in vain. This, according to her, would be the most terrible scenario, as it would leave the field open to those who have sold their dignity and are selling the country.
And while emphasizing that 50 days have passed in protest, despite the differences among participants, she concluded her speech with a powerful call: there is no other way but to take to the streets to fight the divisive and suggestive efforts. She declared she does not want to be alive on the day this country turns into a land of “mënxyra” and parasitism.
