RTK workers’ protest suspended after government allocates 2.2 million euros

The Union of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) announced that it has suspended the protest planned for Monday at 11:30, after the acting government approved a fund of 2.24 million euros for the public broadcaster.

This decision, taken on Friday through an electronic meeting, paves the way for exiting the severe financial situation that left RTK employees without salaries for a full 13 days.

The union emphasized that, although deprived of income, the employees never stopped working and continued to provide public service to citizens without any interruption.

However, they warned that the suspension of the protest does not close the issue. If the payments are not made, the planned protest will be reorganized at a later time.

The RTK Union Federation calls on competent institutions to establish mechanisms that ensure sustainable financing for RTK and regular salary payments, emphasizing that the staff should not fall victim to political blockades, institutional negligence, or managerial errors.

In its statement, the union thanked the employees for the unity and solidarity shown during this crisis, appreciating that precisely this unity helped overcome the situation.
