He opposed the protesters’ demands to amend the Law on Specialized Chambers, emphasizing that the Self-Determination Movement had protested earlier to prevent, according to him, harm to the state.
Rrustemi said the Self-Determination Movement had supported the proposed law at its first reading and was prepared to vote for it in the final vote as well. At the same time, he accused the opposition of obstructing several Self-Determination Movement initiatives.
“We protested to prevent harm to the state, including opposition to the establishment of the Special Court, while they are opposing the very harms they created themselves. Where would we have had a party in government that is prepared to vote for whatever the opposition proposes? The opposition did not even vote for resolutions against Serbia’s genocide, while we voted for the law at its first reading over their mistakes in 2015 and were prepared to vote for it in the final vote,” he wrote.
“They say the law is important, they say we must overturn the Court’s decision, and precisely when it is said, ‘Come on, let’s do it,’ they refuse. Let us vote for the president so that we can ensure both protection through a state strategy and passage of the law,” Rrustemi continued.
