Rokas: Constitutional Court decisions must be implemented, but the rights of ethnic minorities remain in focus

Asked about the protests held today in Tetovo following the Constitutional Court’s decision to overturn the 2007 decision on the naming of streets in the city, the European Union Ambassador to Macedonia, Michalis Rokas, said that the European Union supports the decisions of the Constitutional Court as the highest legal institution in the country. He also emphasized that, in the process of European integration, issues related to ethnic minorities are of particular importance.

“The Constitutional Court is the highest judicial authority in the state. It is essential that its decisions be implemented immediately. That is what we support.

Likewise, issues related to the rule of law and ethnic minorities constitute an essential part of European integration, and we expect the institutions to implement them meticulously,” Rokas said.
