Austria has experienced the highest temperature ever recorded in the country, after thermometers in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, in the eastern part of the country, reached 41.2 degrees Celsius.

The GeoSphere Austria weather service has officially confirmed the new record.
The recorded figure surpasses the previous record of 41°C, measured just one day earlier at the Vienna-Stammersdorf station.
The high temperatures come amid an unusually hot and dry summer, while a lack of rainfall has affected most of Austria.
This summer, the country also recorded the most intense heatwave ever documented in June. Average temperatures were 1.4 degrees Celsius above previous records.
Scientists say climate change driven by human activity and greenhouse gas emissions is causing extreme weather events to occur more frequently and with greater intensity around the world.
