Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again reacted on the social network “X” regarding judges’ salaries, declaring that no one can assume the role of parliament or dictate to the legislature when it should vote.

“Absolutely not, this is not the way a judge expresses himself, but rather the way a football ultra protests in the street against VAR.
Regretfully, let me state a few simple truths:
No institution can replace parliament, and no one has the right to order the legislature when to raise its hand. Only the Constitutional Court has the right and duty to point out to parliament that it has passed a wrong vote, but even that court cannot dictate to the independent legislative branch how it should vote.
Decision-making on salary policy belongs to the government for the proposal, parliament for approval, and the government again for implementation. The Constitutional Court may intervene only when a constitutional principle or provision is affected. In such a case, lawmakers must correct the situation without compromising their independence and in accordance with the approach they deem reasonable through their vote.
If, God forbid, the associations of prosecutors and judges have chosen to use coordinated political and legal means with the prosecutors’ offices and courts, lining up as an army against the government and seeking salary increases through criminal complaints, security measures or enforcement proceedings, then we would be facing a new challenge. This does not frighten us, but it concerns us deeply. We do not want such a scenario, and I do not want to allow it, because, contrary to what this judge who speaks in the media believes, the issue of stratospheric salaries is not about resentment but about the challenge of building Albania’s European state.
Everything is clear: the table prepared for the requested and subsequently canceled meeting remains available. On September 17, only this tense episode in the public arena—which could and should have been avoided—will come to an end. Nevertheless, the need for communication between the independent branches of government does not end. On the contrary, it was not created by the debate over salaries and will become even more important with every step toward membership in the European Union.
We have the table and are ready for dialogue; the rest is up to the judges to assess,” Rama wrote.
