Protesters throw firecrackers at police; officers use megaphone: Keep children off the street

Protests in Tirana have been marked by severe tensions for days. During today’s gathering, protesters took to the square in the early hours of the morning, and after a long period of calm, the first clashes with police officers were reported.

Protesters reportedly threw firecrackers and stones at police officers, who activated the water cannon in response. They also appealed to parents to keep children off the street so they would not be hurt.

“Citizens, keep children off the street! Stop the violent acts against institutions,” police officers urged.
