Residents of Divjakë have completed three full weeks of uninterrupted protests in the square in front of the municipality, voicing their opposition to the decisions of the local authorities and demanding that their voices be heard. They are calling on state institutions to take their demands into consideration.

During this evening’s gathering, which marked the 21st consecutive day, speakers focused their criticism on the actions of Divjakë’s head of the local executive. They also leveled harsh accusations at lawmakers and other political figures who, according to the protesters, have not attended the rallies to show solidarity.
Those taking part in the protest emphasized their determination not to give up. They see the continuation of this movement as a concrete alternative, despite the pressure that, they claim, is being exerted to put an end to the protest.
After the speeches ended, the gathering turned into a march through the city’s main arteries. One notable episode during the procession was a civic gesture in which the demonstrators cleared the way for an ambulance transporting a patient.
During the march, chants could be heard such as: “Mazniku proposes, Divjakë opposes,” “Divjakë is a municipality, we decide here,” and “Divjakë belongs to its citizens, not those in power.”
The residents have warned that their mobilization will continue in the coming days, insisting that the institutions take the community’s demands into consideration.
