Prosecution closes investigation into procurement of 19 modular hospitals: No evidence of misuse found

The Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption has concluded its investigative procedure into public procurement for the construction of 19 modular hospitals in the country.

The investigation began on September 10, 2021, two days after the tragedy at the modular hospital in Tetovo, where 14 people lost their lives in a fire. At the time, the Prosecutor’s Office announced that it would verify the documentation concerning the procurement and construction of all the modular hospitals.

During a briefing with journalists, prosecutor Verica Berzhecka said that a review of the extensive and complex documentation had not uncovered reasonable grounds to suspect the abuse of official position and authority during the public procurement procedures.

The case was initially led by former prosecutor Villma Ruskoska, then by Elizabeta Josiovska, while in its final phase it was handled by Berzhecka. The investigation covered documents related to the construction and procurement of 19 modular hospitals in the country./TV21/
