The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and is being held under the theme “Kosovo in a Changing World: Security, Partnership and Development.”

Ambassadors of the Republic of Kosovo, representatives of local institutions and other dignitaries are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

Those attending will be addressed by the acting president of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu; acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti; and the first deputy prime minister and acting minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca.

Before the conference, Haxhiu announced last night that a reception had been organized in Prishtina for Kosovo’s ambassadors and consuls serving in various countries around the world.

She thanked the diplomats for their year-round efforts to represent Kosovo. According to Haxhiu, the results of this work often do not become visible immediately, as achieving them requires patience, perseverance and many conversations.

Speaking about diplomacy, the acting president underlined the need to build trust and long-term relations, especially at a time when alliances and interests are changing rapidly.

Haxhiu said that mutual recognition and the building of trust take time, before the moment arrives when their support is needed.

According to her, Kosovo’s diplomats should broaden the way Kosovo is known internationally, so that perceptions of the country are not limited solely to events of the past.

She stressed that diplomats work every day to ensure that knowledge about Kosovo also includes the reality of, and the place occupied by, the country today.

Haxhiu also expressed gratitude to the diplomats’ families. She mentioned children who are forced to change schools and spouses who adjust their lives whenever diplomats are assigned to serve in a new country.

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Glauk Konjufca also attended last night’s reception.
