Powerful storm hits Skopje, Gjorgjievski: The crisis headquarters and public enterprise teams are on the ground

After the powerful storm that swept through Skopje today, Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced that the City of Skopje’s Crisis Headquarters, together with the services and public enterprises, has been fully mobilized and remains ready for immediate intervention on the ground in the event of damage, flooding or the need for an urgent response.

Gjorgjievski stressed that the City of Skopje is maintaining uninterrupted coordination with the Central Center for Disaster Management, the Interior Ministry, the National Emergency Service, the City of Skopje Fire Brigade, as well as all competent institutions.

In his statement, he said that all capacities have been engaged with a single goal: the timely protection of citizens and the avoidance of major consequences. According to him, the City of Skopje teams will remain available throughout the night and will act wherever the need arises. He added that the storm cannot be stopped, but major damage can be prevented through an organized, responsible and joint approach.
