Gjorgjievski: Delivery of more than 100 buses for Skopje and other municipalities to begin soon

Public transport in Skopje has still not received the 100 promised buses, despite previous announcements. The mayor of the City of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, announced today that the delivery period for more than 100 buses intended for urban transport in Skopje and other municipalities is expected to begin soon.

Meanwhile, Gjorgjievski also addressed the state of hygiene in the capital. According to him, the lack of machinery is the main obstacle to maintaining municipal cleanliness, while the situation is further aggravated by the insufficient number of containers, which are old and worn out.

He announced that the City of Skopje and “Communal Hygiene” had independently secured two transfer stations, as there are currently no such functioning stations to bypass parts of Karposh, Gjorce Petrov and part of the Center. One of them will be located in that area, speeding up waste collection, while the other station will be located in Gazi Baba and will cover the corresponding region.

Today, Gjorgjievski, together with the prime minister and the minister of transport, presented 49 new municipal vehicles. The vehicles will be used to maintain hygiene in the city of Skopje, as well as in the municipalities of Kumanovo, Prilep, Strumica, Shtip, Ohrid, Tetovo, Negotino, Kicevo, Debar and Veles.

Through the World Bank, at a cost of 4.2 million euros, 19 multifunctional trucks of various types, nine tankers and 21 multifunctional street-cleaning vehicles were purchased.

The mayor of Skopje also announced that five trucks secured by the city would be presented soon. He added that the deadline for submitting complaints regarding the purchase of 3,200 containers for Skopje had also expired.
