A powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded today in southern Peru, the Peruvian Geophysical Institute announced.

According to the data, the epicenter was located 35 kilometers north of the city of Coracoara, in the Parinacochas department, while the earthquake’s focus was at a depth of 108 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimated the magnitude of the tremors at 6.7.
So far, no casualties have been reported.
