Journalist Klodiana Lala reported for BalkanWeb that the two agencies worked closely together to determine Agasi’s whereabouts. Surveillance of him began in Elbasan and continued as he traveled toward Durrës, culminating in his arrest in the Plepa area.
Former police officer Uljan Shpataraku was also arrested during the same operation. He is suspected of aiding the perpetrator of the crime, who in this case is Ergys Agasi.
According to Lala, Shpataraku was a trusted associate of former State Police Director Ilir Proda. He is also suspected of having wielded considerable influence within the State Police.
During the operation, the authorities seized several personal items, including bags, but their contents have not yet been disclosed. The operation is ongoing, while an official police statement providing further details about the arrests and the charges against the two men is expected in the coming hours.
