Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has extended a hand of cooperation to the leaders of the opposition parties, inviting them to a meeting ahead of the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo, scheduled for August 6.

The official invitation was sent to the chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza; the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku; and the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ardian Gjini.
However, the PDK has responded negatively to the call. In a letter signed by Hamza himself, which is in the possession of the editorial office, the political entity refers to the July 10 discussion and its previous public statements, emphasizing that its position remains unchanged.
“In the current situation, we have decided to remain in opposition,” the PDK said in its response. At the same time, the party expressed confidence that Kurti, based on the mandate resulting from the June 7, 2026 elections, would find common ground with the other parliamentary forces to establish the new state institutions.
The Alliance, for its part, will also not participate in the meeting. Sources close to the political entity said the refusal was due to their insistence on a six-point document, which they had presented as an offer.
In the letter addressed to Mr. Gjini, the acting head of government proposed a one-on-one meeting on Tuesday at 18:00 or 19:00, or on Wednesday afternoon at 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 or 17:00. “I hope for a positive response,” Kurti’s message concluded.
The agenda for the proposed meeting includes finding a solution to overcome the deadlock over the constitution of the Assembly and concrete steps toward forming the next government, in pursuit of broad political consensus.
