Ervin Demo was sworn in before President Bajram Begaj as the new interior minister, a few hours after Parliament approved his appointment to the post.

During a session that lasted until after midnight, Parliament approved the President’s decree appointing Demo to the new post, with 83 votes in favor and 2 against.
Demo’s appointment comes as part of the latest changes to the government cabinet undertaken by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who removed Besfort Lamallari from office.
Demo previously headed the Ministry of Local Government, which will now be dissolved and become part of the Ministry of the Interior.
