Through a statement published during the protest, the organization called on police officers not to use force against the children of martyrs, war invalids, veterans and citizens.

“Police officer, we know that you are acting under orders and carrying them out. But keep your hands off the children of martyrs, war invalids, veterans and the citizens of this country,” the OVL-UÇK statement said.

The organization called for an end to what it described as “excessive and unprovoked violence,” clarifying that, in its view, the protest is not directed against police officers.

“We have no issue with you. Our issue is with the representatives of the people, and we demand that they be held accountable for their actions,” the statement continued.

OVL-UÇK also appealed for the police uniform not to be used, as alleged in the statement, as an instrument of violence against citizens.

The statement was issued amid a tense situation near state institutions in Pristina, where the protest was accompanied by intervention from the Kosovo Police.
