Osmani expressed her sorrow over Brovina’s death, highlighting her significant contribution to Kosovo, freedom and the protection of human rights.
According to Osmani, Flora Brovina was a woman who devoted her entire life to Kosovo, freedom and human dignity.
She specifically recalled Brovina’s activities during the 1990s, when she faced Serbian repression and violence.
Osmani emphasized that Brovina, as a physician, humanitarian and powerful voice for Albanian women, did not remain passive in the face of the injustices of that time.
The former president also recalled Flora Brovina’s arrest on April 20, 1999, during the war in Kosovo, as well as her transfer to Serbian prisons.
She said that imprisonment, torture and pressure failed to break Brovina, who remained a symbol of resistance.
Even during her imprisonment, Brovina did not give up her convictions or her commitment to Kosovo and freedom, Osmani emphasized.
Her public engagement continued after the end of the war, while Brovina served several terms as a member of the Kosovo Assembly.
Osmani concluded that Flora Brovina’s life, sacrifice and resistance will remain an inseparable part of Kosovo’s history.
