Operation in Deçan targets illegal gambling, five people arrested

An operation over suspicions of the unlawful operation of gambling activities was carried out by the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja, in coordination with the Kosovo Police and the Deçan Police Station.

Following the operation, the state prosecutor ordered the arrest and detention of five people suspected of the criminal offense of “Organizing pyramid schemes and illegal gambling.”

Checks were carried out at the premises where the activity is suspected to have taken place, during which material evidence was temporarily seized. This included playing cards and game cards, five mobile phones, and €1,615 in cash.

Under the prosecutor’s order, all five suspects will be held in detention for 48 hours. The prosecutor in charge of the case is expected to proceed with the other procedural steps within the legal deadline, including submitting a request for the imposition of a security measure against them.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja announced that, together with the Kosovo Police, it will continue taking legal measures against people suspected of being involved in unlawful activities.
