Footage from yesterday’s anti-usury operation in Prizren released, three people arrested

A police operation against usury ended on Tuesday in Prizren with the arrest of three people.

Petrit Kryeziu, chief prosecutor at the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, confirmed the case to Klankosova.tv.

The Kosovo Police said today that the operation was carried out by the Regional Investigations Sector in Prizren, in coordination with the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, as well as the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren.

Footage released by the police today shows the operation during which the suspects B. S., F. S. and A. D. were arrested. All three are suspected of being involved in the criminal offense of “usury.”

In addition to the suspicions of usury, B. S. is also suspected of “causing general danger” and a “traffic accident involving injuries.”

According to the police statement, while attempting to evade arrest, B. S. struck a police officer and a female citizen with a car, causing them injuries.

The investigation shows that the suspects repeatedly pressured the victim to profit from usurious activity. As a result, the victim was forced to take actions to the detriment of his property, while the suspects’ unlawful actions caused him considerable material damage.

As part of the operation, the suspects’ homes were searched at three different locations within the municipality of Prizren. Various material pieces of evidence were seized there, which will be used during the criminal proceedings.

Following questioning, by decision of the prosecutor at the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, the three suspects were placed in 48-hour detention, the police said.
