Alket Rizai did not return to Domokos prison in Greece after his furlough ended and has been declared wanted by the Greek authorities. Rizai is suspected of being involved in a bloody incident at a beach bar in Anavyssos in the early hours of Sunday, where gunshots were fired and two people were injured.

Rizai was due to report to the prison at 08:00, but failed to return, triggering procedures for his arrest. What has drawn the authorities’ attention is the fact that the Albanian national had been granted 16 furloughs since 2021 and had returned to prison after each one.
According to preliminary information, the conflict at the beach bar began after the music was stopped because of the late hour. The group Rizai was with was initially inside the bar but later went outside.
Rizai is suspected of walking toward his vehicle with the other people and turning on loud music. The bar owner came out to reprimand them, leading to a heated argument. The situation escalated within moments, while passersby and bar employees were also at the scene.
According to sources cited by the Greek media, Rizai is suspected of pulling out a gun and may have fired, possibly into the air. An Afghan national, who is suspected of being connected to the bar’s security, then became involved in the conflict and is said to have fired in Rizai’s direction.
Police are trying to determine who used the gun, how many shots were fired and in what direction. Shell casings and traces of blood were found at the scene and are being analyzed by forensic laboratories.
A 20-year-old Greek man and a 41-year-old Pakistani man were injured in the incident. Their medical condition is expected to be one of the elements that will help investigators fully clarify what happened. The 41-year-old owner of the beach bar and his 39-year-old wife have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The owner is accused, among other things, of making false statements, harboring a person who has committed a criminal offense, obstructing justice, and inciting the illegal possession and use of a firearm.
