Nine drivers arrested, while one was summoned for an official interview over reckless driving

Over the past 24 hours, police at various locations across the country detained nine drivers and summoned one person for an official interview on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “reckless driving,” provided for under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, North Macedonia’s Ministry of Interior reported.

A total of eight people were driving without having passed their driving test: I.Xh. (34), O.E. (21) and N.T. (20), from Skopje; E.D. (19), from the village of Haraçinë, in the vicinity of Skopje; a 17-year-old from the village of Studeniçan, in the vicinity of Skopje; S.D. (65), from Serbia; a 16-year-old from Veles; and Sh.A. (48), from Prilep, who was also under the influence of alcohol.

V.D. (31), from the village of Razllovc, in the vicinity of Delčevo, was driving despite being subject to a driving ban. Meanwhile, D.G.T. (24), from the Netherlands, was caught traveling at 175 kilometers per hour in an area where the speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour.

The Ministry of Interior said that, once the cases have been fully documented, the relevant criminal complaints will be filed. The ministry urged all road users to obey the rules and not to drive without having passed the driving test, while subject to a driving ban or under the influence of alcohol, thereby contributing to greater road safety.
