According to him, the most complex section of the road, from Preseka towards Kičevo, specifically the Izvor-Vrbjani section, about 10 kilometres long, is expected to be opened in the coming months. This section includes the Preseka tunnel, several galleries, bridges and viaducts.
Construction of the Kičevo-Ohrid motorway began in 2014. The project, initially estimated at €374 million, could reach a cost of €760-770 million.
“Work on the Ohrid-Kičevo motorway is progressing intensively. The section to the airport has already been completed, and the airport can be reached via the motorway, up to a newly constructed and properly arranged interchange. We are currently working intensively to complete the entire motorway.
The most difficult section will open in the coming months. I expect the entire motorway to become operational during the first half of next year. Meanwhile, work is continuing on the other sections as well, which will connect to Skopje and Skopje Airport,” said Aleksandar Nikolloski.
