The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has concluded its investigation into Nigerian citizen L.O. and sent the case to trial, charging him with “Computer Fraud.”

The proceedings began following a complaint filed by a call center employee. She said she had been contacted on social media by a person claiming to be an Italian citizen, although he was unable to communicate in Italian.
The conversations began on Instagram and later continued on WhatsApp. During their exchanges, the person asked the woman to make a payment, claiming she was due to receive a surprise package that he was unable to pay for himself.
Through the fraudulent scheme, he then obtained the payment’s banking details and directed the victim to an account to which a considerable sum was transferred. Despite the payment, the package never arrived, while the person continued asking her for more money.
The investigation by the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office, conducted in cooperation with the Italian authorities through letters rogatory, found that the PostePay Evolution account was held by Nigerian citizen L.O., a resident of Italy.
L.O. will now face justice on the charge of “Computer Fraud.”
