The company had previously been warned in accordance with the inspection law, while tracking the route of the waste revealed violations of legal provisions.
An inspection conducted by the Directorate of Environmental and Water Inspection at the NICTP identified serious violations involving the incorrect classification of waste, transfer documents and the conduct of activities outside the conditions of the relevant permit or authorization.
During the verification process, it emerged that the company had registered as “activated carbon” a material classified as an absorbent and material containing hazardous substances.
However, an examination of its nature and origin showed that the code used did not correspond to the waste’s actual characteristics.
Discrepancies were also found between the waste codes registered or transferred by the company and the list of codes provided for in the contract submitted with the receiving entity.
The NICTP also found that Polyeco Albania LLC had accepted and managed waste that was not covered by its operating permit or authorization.
In implementation of Law No. 57/2025 “On integrated waste management” and Law No. 99/2024 “On inspections in the Republic of Albania,” the company was fined and its waste management operations were suspended. The suspension will remain in force until the identified violations are eliminated and full compliance with the relevant permit is ensured.
