A magnitude 4.7 tremor shook the Naples area, being described as the strongest earthquake to hit the region in the last 40 years.

The tremors were felt throughout the city and caused panic among residents. Authorities report that 21 people have been injured, two of them seriously.
Pozzuoli was the area most affected by the damage, where two uninhabited buildings collapsed. Also, a jetty sustained significant damage.
After the main shock, more than 30 aftershocks were recorded in the area. Fear of further tremors led many families to spend the night outside their homes.
Meanwhile, Italian authorities are inspecting damaged buildings and infrastructure. Emergency teams remain on the ground to monitor the situation and ensure citizens’ safety.
