Following the vote on Ardian Gola for the position of deputy speaker, PDK candidate Vlora Çitaku failed to secure the required number of votes. Following the result, PDK lawmakers left the chamber.
The constitutive session was adjourned following the latest developments. Arbërie Nagavci, head of the VV Parliamentary Group, said that her party could not support a candidate who, in her view, intended to take the country to elections.
“VV will vote for a PDK candidate for deputy speaker, but we cannot vote for Ms. Çitaku, and we cannot continue in this situation. We will not vote for someone whose aim is to take us to elections. PDK must nominate a deputy speaker, whoever they deem appropriate. I call on our colleagues from PDK and LDK to enable the constitution of the Assembly,” she said.
