The Municipality of Tetovo topped the list for total public procurement value, at €22.5 million. At the other end was the Municipality of Old Nagorichane, which signed contracts worth less than half a million euros.

Tetovo also recorded the largest annual increase in tender value, amounting to €20 million. Meanwhile, Strumica saw the steepest decline, with the value of public procurement there falling by €6 million.

For the second consecutive year, the City of Skopje was not the municipality with the highest public procurement value. After ranking sixth last year, it fell to 14th place this year, with tenders worth €8.5 million.

On a per-resident basis, Chair led with spending of €2,381 per person. Centar Zhupa had the lowest figure, with public procurement amounting to just €12 per person.

The research data show that municipalities signed public procurement contracts with 1,185 companies last year. However, just ten companies received more than a quarter of the total value of local tenders.

The contracts with the highest combined value went to “Zhikol,” a company from Strumica, with agreements totaling one billion denars, or around €16 million.

The Center for Civic Communications published its research and database on municipal public procurement in 2025. The dedicated database at javninabavki.opendata.mk also provides municipal public procurement data from 2015 to the present day./Telegrafi/
