According to the Ministry of Interior, these messages contain a link through which recipients are asked to provide personal or banking details and pay a supposedly existing fine. This is an attempted scam aimed at collecting sensitive data.
The ministry emphasizes that official SMS messages concerning violations are sent by the sender “MVR-SC”. The message should contain the vehicle’s registration plate, while the official link should lead to the safecountry.mvr.gov.mk domain.
Citizens are urged not to open suspicious links or provide bank card numbers, passwords, or other personal information if they are not sure that the message is authentic.
The Ministry of Interior recommends carefully checking every suspicious message and reporting any possible scam attempt to the competent institutions.
In addition, the Ministry of Interior reminds citizens that such scams are often designed to look like official notices so that people react quickly and without further verification. It therefore recommends always checking the sender, the link address, and the content of the message before taking any action.
