Milan under tight security measures as anarchists join tomorrow’s protest

La Repubblica has raised suspicions that the recent unrest in Milan may have been fueled by an organized operation, suggesting that a coordinated hand could be behind the clashes.

It is not yet known who may be behind the initiative, and there is no evidence proving foreign involvement. However, it is suspected that certain individuals may have been contacted to exploit their anger, while mobilization may have been carried out through social media and leaflets created specifically using artificial intelligence.

According to the Italian newspaper, a similar scheme is suspected to have been used during the unrest in Spain’s Ceuta. La Repubblica links this assessment to the more-than-three-hour testimony given by Bruno Valensise, director of the Agency for Information and Internal Security, before the Parliamentary Security Committee.

Meanwhile, experts are analyzing who may have set this mechanism in motion. Several days ago, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that the possibility that developments in Milan were part of a hybrid war could not be ruled out.

The media also notes the first signs of rapprochement between anti-establishment circles, anarchist groups and new organizers who have emerged during the recent protests.

Over the weekend, the city will be placed under a tight security regime. Law enforcement forces will be deployed from the railway station to central Milan.

The security operation will include a large number of security forces, as well as 500 paratroopers from the Folgore military unit. Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has said that, if the situation requires it, armored vehicles and drones may also be deployed.
